about the producer:
The cognac house Jean Fillioux, located in the golden triangle of the grande champagne (Juillac-Le-Coq/ Verrières/ Angeac-Champagne), was founded in 1880 by Honoré Fillioux and is still a family business in 2023. The domain extends over 50 hectares of vineyards, all located in the heart of the grande champagne. The beautiful domaine La Pouyade is located on top of a hill, if you drive up from Segonzac you will see the domain protruding above the landscape a few kilometers before arrival, beautiful! The Fillioux family is also "one with nature", the preservation and protection of the local fauna and flora is one of their core values. Pascal Fillioux (born 1948) transferred the domain to his son Christophe (born 1980) in 2015, but father and son still work well together. Christophe has the new ideas, works on growth and innovation and Pascal keeps an eye on things. Tradition, family and quality characterize this family.

Serge Valentin, whiskyfun.com, 25/12/2021:
From their single estate, Domaine de la Pouyade. 43% sure work better than 40%. Colour: gold. Nose: fresher yet, more on apples and pears, plums, even calvados, really. More herbs, peelings, cut apples, hay, green melons this time… And much less on exotic fruits. Mouth: indeed a much firmer expression, with more roots, husks, branches, peelings, grasses… I'm finding even more apples as well, which I love (while they would keep the doctor away, naturally), as well as quinces and greengages, which are some of my pet fruits. Notes of jujubes and even sorb as well. Very complex, behind this slight rustic side. The 43% work perfectly well. Finish: rather long, rounder, with more cakes and honeys. Fresh pears and heather honey in the aftertaste. Comments: a tad austere at times, and in that respect rather the opposite of the very aromatic 'Très Vieux'. Pretty malternative indeedn and very good indeed.
SGP:551 - 87 points.

Valentin Audurier, hors d'age website ,12/11/2021:
A young millésimé from la Pouyade Estate. G.C. 29yo. 43% Let’s taste this Malternative Belgium La Flèche de Feu!
Colour: Pale gold, orange lights. Heavy regular tears.
Nose: Mainly on fresh citruses at first. Very heady smells. A tad of camphory and nutty notes too. Delicate floral notes on jasmine and vanilla stick enhanced by herbal tones on fennel and anise. Musky and wood shades in the background. Hints of tangerine marmalade with more air.
Palate: Sweet/oily texture. Full of citruses and chocolate aromas at first. Nice mouth length on tangerine and cocoa. Very drinkable. Slightly spiced on nutmeg and rose pepper. Great candied lemon aftertaste. Still some herbal notes, mainly eucalyptus and fennel again.
Last Notes: Very refined nose with more air. Exuberant floral notes on potpourri, violet blossom, and a tad of freshness on menthol too( a very little of typical Mosstowie freshness. Fennel/anise duo has its privileged place in this « young » G.C, which is not unpleasant at all. Distinct chocolate sweets shades, especially on vanilla and caramel. Hints of dusty wood tones in the background. Back on the palate, you find back some chocolate with a certain creaminess in the texture now. Salted butter caramel aromas melted to Christmas spices notes. Tiny fresh licorice shades. Powerful black pepper tones as strong au-revoir. Quite different from the other Fillioux I tasted a few weeks ago.
Not the most precise G.C but this is the millésimé game, and you get an original balance between delicate floral notes and opulent spiciness. Could easily be my daily dram.
My very subjective note: 87+/100

Mark Dermul, 09/11/2021, whivie:
Indrukwekkend. En niet eens 100 EUR. Laat de feestdagen maar beginnen!

Ruben Luyten, www.whiskynotes.be, 05/11/2021:
Nose: brighter, slightly more floral and juicy. Stewed apples oranges and nectarines, joined by acacia honey, light vanilla and a hint of jasmine. Seems older than it is, really refined and incredibly fresh.
Mouth: a surprising sweetness, showing lots of mirabelles, oranges and quince jam, hints of melon with a good dollop of honey. Picks up light herbal notes and hints of chocolate and toffee towards the end. Still some vanilla. Good strength really.
Finish: medium length, with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, as well as red fruits and woody notes.
Quite rounded and fruity. Maybe a tad too sweet for my own taste, but those with a sweet tooth will love it. This would be perfect to impress your family after a Christmas dinner. Now available for € 99.
Score: 88/100
