About the producer:
Since 1850, the Landreau family has been working the land in the Grande Champagne from father to son. The origin of the name "Landreau" comes from a village in the Loire Atlantique near Nantes: Le Landreau.
Landreau's first ancestors settled in the Charente before 1685 and in 1852 the first members of the family settled in Criteuil La Magdeleine.

The Landreau family has always distilled its own eaux-de-vie.
The Landreau family started with approximately 2 hectares of vineyards, fields and forests. With Emile, the domain expanded and modernized after the First World War, until it covered an area of 15 hectares of vines.

Emile's son, Paul, was 17 years old when he started working on the farm with his high school diploma in hand. Due to an administrative error, he avoided mandatory employment in Germany and expanded the operation and bought a third.

Of his 4 children, Daniel joined the estate in 1969 after obtaining his Baccalaureate of Agriculture in 1968, a degree that was then required to be acquired from his father in 1981. He took over the estate in the midst of a period of crisis in the Cognac wine industry, due to the sharp decline in Cognac exports. Despite the difficulties, direct sales and welcoming tourists to the farm ensure that the family business can stay afloat.

The estate now covers 27 hectares, including 25 hectares of ugni blanc used to make Cognac and 60 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot used to make Pineau des Charentes.
